NRCan EV Investment: Remarks from Skyline Energy President

July 27, 2021 Clean Energy

[Guelph, ON – July 27, 2021]

On July 27, 2021, Rob Stein, President, Skyline Energy joined Opus One Solutions and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) at an event celebrating NRCan’s announcement of a $2.3 million investment to Anvil Crawler Development Corp. for the installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers across Ontario. Stein represented both Skyline Energy and Anvil Crawler Development Corp. (both part of Skyline Group of Companies) at the event.

Remarks from Rob Stein, President, Skyline Energy – July 27, 2021

Skyline Group of Companies and Anvil Crawler Development Corp. are honoured to be here today celebrating the completion of our Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Demonstration Projects, in combination with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), and Opus One Solutions.

Through programs like the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Demonstration Program (EVID), Natural Resources Canada has allowed Skyline and Anvil Crawler to accomplish their sustainability goals while making electric vehicle charging and renewable energy infrastructure more accessible to all Canadians.

Skyline and Anvil Crawler operate profitable and growing businesses in clean energy, rental housing, and commercial real estate. We always strive to go beyond the call of duty in our industry and factor sustainability into our business decisions.

We exist to make meaningful differences in the lives of our customers, our people, and in the communities in which we operate. By adding Solar PV, battery energy storage, and electric vehicle chargers to our properties, we will generate and store clean, renewable power for our electric vehicle chargers without adding additional burden on our electrical infrastructure in Ontario. We will reduce our negative impact on the planet by creating efficiencies in our daily operations and influencing others to modify their behaviours to benefit the environment and effect change. We hope that programs like NRCan’s EVID will spark a chain effect of responsible decision-making across the country.

Skyline understands the need to effect change, measure it, and spread the message about it. We believe that purposeful sustainability achievements lead to engaged employees, satisfied customers, resource efficiency, and cost savings. We will use this successful experience as a stepping stone to build out a solar-powered electrical vehicle network across our entire portfolio from coast to coast in the coming years.

With the help of NRCan and the EVID program, Skyline will continue to set the benchmark for sustainability with the hope to influence positive change in the communities in which we operate.

Lastly, we thank Natural Resources Canada and all our partners for making this project possible and furthering our goal to make our communities greener and cleaner places to live and work!

1 MW/DC: Megawatt of direct current energy; a unit measurement of the output of power.
2 Expected Annual Generation is projected by an independent third-party and is calculated as an expectation of annual output based on analysis of a number of inputs, including historical production, system efficiency, and historical weather data.
3 MWh: A measurement of energy usage; the amount of energy one would use if keeping a 1,000 kilowatt machine running for an hour.
4 Estimated Gross Annual Revenue is calculated as: (size of system, measured as kilowatts) x (production factor of system, measured as kilowatt hours generated per kilowatt) x (tariff rate, measured as revenue per kilowatt hour generated)
