Skyline Clean Energy Fund Completes Landmark 76 MW/DC Solar Acquisition
September 10, 2026 Solar Energy
As Canada prepares for significant growth in electricity demand in the decades ahead, Skyline Clean Energy Fund (SCEF) has completed the largest solar transaction in its history, expanding its installed solar capacity by 83% and increasing its contribution to renewable electricity generation in Ontario.
On September 10, SCEF, a Guelph, ON-based private renewable infrastructure fund, acquired a portfolio of 3,291 solar assets across the province, representing 76 MW/DC (megawatts of direct current) of installed capacity.
The portfolio includes commercial, industrial, and residential solar projects, including both rooftop and ground-mount systems, operating under long-term fixed-price Feed-in Tariff (FIT) and microFIT contracts with the Province of Ontario. By generating stable contracted revenue, the assets create opportunities to enhance long-term value for SCEF investors.
“This milestone transaction fully aligns with our strategy of investing in essential energy infrastructure that can provide stable, long-term revenue, which helps power Ontario’s grid while providing investor value,” said Rob Stein, President, Skyline Clean Energy Fund.
The acquisition builds on SCEF’s ongoing efforts to enhance the productivity of its renewable energy portfolio. SCEF recently launched a $68 million repowering initiative designed to upgrade 19 of its solar assets, increasing the portfolio’s overall electricity generation capacity and supporting its long-term growth.
Together, the acquisition and repowering program represent a significant investment in Ontario’s solar infrastructure as the province prepares for a projected 65% increase in electricity demand between 2026 and 2050, according to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).
“Meeting Ontario’s rising energy demand will require continued investment in clean energy infrastructure, and the province is already procuring new electricity resources and planning for its future capacity needs.” said Stein.
“This acquisition enhances our ability to help meet that demand and play a larger role in the province’s energy future.”
Now comprising 3,375 solar assets and two biogas facilities totalling 171.68 MW/DC of installed renewable energy capacity, SCEF invests in renewable energy infrastructure designed to generate long-term cash flow through the production of electricity and renewable natural gas (RNG).
For investors seeking exposure to the growing renewable energy sector, SCEF provides access to a portfolio of real, income-producing assets backed by long-term contracts. Through strategic acquisitions and portfolio enhancement initiatives, including its ongoing solar repowering program, SCEF seeks to grow long-term earning potential and investor value.
